The Birdlife of Skipworth Reserve

Skipworth Reserve near Jamieson in Victoria is a bird watchers paradise. Fairy Wrens, King Parrots, Bower Birds, Wattle Birds, Black Cockatoos, Magpies, Kookaburras, Wonga Pigeons, Currawongs, Tree Hoppers.

Big fat Wonga Pigeons scour the grass for tidbits. Fairy Wrens hop about on matchstick thin legs. Eagle eyed kookaburras perch on head high branches waiting for the slightest movement.

Our friends brought along parrot food but the King Parrots were much smarter than that. When we werenā€™t watching they were into our happy hour nibbles and flitting off to the trees to nibble daintily on rice crackers and potato chips.
