Tewantin Ferry

July 2017 Sunshine Coast, Qld

On the sage advice of a friend we board the Tewantin ferry and spend 45 minutes tootling down river to Noosa Heads stopping at half a dozen wharves along the way. The skipper is a laconic character and gives all the kids a go at tooting the steam whistle. He also suggests that parents can have a lazy lunch and leave the kids on board, after all the ferry will pass by your restaurant every hour! It is a perfect sunny morning and warm as toast sitting on the top deck watching pelicans and cormorants and checking out the luxury houses and yachts. Having had our fill of the busy shops and cafes of Noosa yesterday we laze on board until we return to Tewantin then tuck into a large fish and chips while watching the boating activity at the marina. To my mind the Tewantin ferry is Noosa’s best kept secret.

  1. Great pictures, we are all freezing our asses off here in South Dakota USA. If you read Kindle eBooks I just published a book on Kindle it should be ready in one or two days. ‘The Bay Area Bad Guys’ by Leland Olson. I hope you enjoy reading it if you get a chance, stay well down there don’t get too warm.
