The Western Districts, Day 10 – Lake Bolac

Day 10 Wednesday 25/11/20 Cavendish to Lake Bolac, hot low 30’s

Lake Colac now Lake Bolac, there’s a pattern forming here.

The drive along the southern slopes of the Grampians or Gariwerd is always a treat to the eye. Soft yellows and greens of the paddocks are bordered by straggly and ancient gums and the deep blues of the ever-present majesty of Mt Sturgeon. I can never pass through this area without sneaking a shot of Mt Sturgeon.

The mountains of the Grampians / Gariwerd National Park dominate the landscape

With hardly anyone around the campground at Lake Bolac we bag lakeside spots and settle in to do little but enjoy the warmth and the views of the powder blue lake. Crane flies that look like mosquitoes but are thankfully harmless settle all over the cars and caravans.

And what a pleasant view from the BBQ shelter

We cook dinner on the BBQ in the little triangular shelter that overlooks the lake and have an early night.
