Capricorn Dancers, Day 86 – Caravan Incontinence

Day 86 Friday 20/8/21 Mulambin, sunny 23

We receive an early morning visit from C & W bearing frozen mango from their own orchard. What a treat at this time of year.

We sit down with the Prado’s and a large map and work out our path home. Things are getting serious now and we are talking more and more of life outside of this paradise.

Our ants have discovered the tidy bin, which lives in the bathroom, and have now taken up residence there. This is a big improvement over their last home, the kitchen bench. I’m thinking that maybe they were a little tired of the Ant Rid cocktails that I’d been dishing out.

On top of this we have caravan incontinence.

The fridge regularly gets itself into a tizz. It freezes the tiny drip tube then happily dribbles the excess water out the door. The water heads for the lowest point, of course, which takes it through the pot cupboard before it hits the lino floor. The simplest and most effective solution to this problem is to shove a tea towel on the bottom shelf between the vegetables and the door. Don’t knock it, it works.

A hose connection under the sink has begun leaking into a cutlery tray. Woody bandages it with waterproof tape to no avail. That’ll have to wait until we get home.

And now the coffee machine reservoir has started blubbering every time we make a coffee.

If things don’t improve I’ll be dragging the gumboots out from under the bed.

I have a walk on Kemp Beach while Woody goes to Bunnings hardware for waterproof tape.

The mozzies eat us alive at happy hour.

And on the Covid front Regional Victoria has gone into lockdown after an outbreak in Shepparton. New South Wales cases are still in the 600’s.
