Nothing Better

Feb 2021, Port Albert, Vic This boat ramp is a 48hour free camp so there’s no need to rush. The wind has dropped out and a few boats are puttering about. The rising sun casts silver sparkles across the water. I walk out onto the boat ramp and small fish are jumping all around me plop, plop. This is heavenly. Small boats are moored at the piers and bob with the flow. An old fishing boat has the name Non Pariel, yes there is nothing better than this, sipping a mug of coffee in the salt air. The one that got away

Port Albert, Vic On February 12th 2014 we spent the night with friends at the free camp at Port Albert’s boat ramp. We had been hemmed in by fires near Traralgon for several days and were glad when the authorities re opened the highway. Rather than go home we headed to the less smoky coast at Port Albert to get some fresh sea air. Never Look a Gift Pub in the Mouth

The wee town of Port Albert is a fisherman’s paradise. The free camp is actually a parking area for cars, boat trailers and RV’s right on the sea front adjoining the boat ramp. There is supposedly parking space for six RV’s. So a bunch of us new arrivals all stand around debating how and where we are supposed to park. We later find the parking instructions and yes we have parked our vans incorrectly, but it isn’t busy and we aren’t blocking anyone.
