Day 94 Thursday 11/8/2016, Burleigh Heads, 24 This morning I climbed the headland upper walk to the Tugun lookout. The forest is busy with Brush Turkeys even one who flies up lands on a looping vine and starts happily swinging above me. There are two Curlews that stalk our park. The moment that you lock eyes on them they freeze using camouflage to hide themselves from view but it doesn’t quite work. They look more like a couple of old ladies locked in a Tai Chi position. Burleigh Heads, Qld We have family on the Gold Coast and when there one of our favourite walks is through the Burleigh Heads National Park. A short 3km return walk takes you around the headland and through patches of rainforest between Burleigh Heads and Tallebudgera. There are stunning ocean views to Surfers Paradise in the north and Coolangatta in the south. In the rainforest the antics of the brush turkeys will keep you amused and water dragons can be spotted wandering about in the shade. It’s early morning and as I walk along Burleigh Heads beach the voice behind me extols the virtues of buying quality and not being afraid of the cost. I glance up at the multitude of high rise apartments and presume that she’s talking about real estate. As she and her friend pass she mentions that the tights that she is wearing cost $120!
