Are We Losing It?

It’s happy hour and we’re beside a tidal creek where pelicans fish, up and down the river with the tide. You could say that we are a little relaxed. Our mate Vee Wee is cross that the kids haven’t rung to wish her a happy Mother’s Day. Then we realise that Mother’s Day is the following week. Pineapple Pete

Port Douglas, Winter 2014 We have new neighbours in a large camper ute that is wider than the site that they are on. While we chat ‘Pete’ starts hacking at the shrubbery, our pretty little dividing garden, and small palms are dug up and despatched to the rubbish bin so that more guy ropes can be pegged in. Hmmm.  After they leave for ‘the Cape’ the management remove a rather large palm tree that Pete has felled in his efforts to create the perfect camp site. Melville Caves Campsite

High up amongst the granite boulders in the Kooyoora State Park you’ll find a large campground with more than enough room to pitch a tent or park your van. The road in is excellent and sites are reasonably level, nothing a couple of ramps can’t fix. There are drop toilets, fires are permitted and there are plenty of walks around the Melville Caves to suit the fit or the lax. Continue reading Melville Caves Campsite

Burns Philp another era

Thanks to Thejuicenut at http://pearsnotparsnips.com/ for alerting me to the fact that I didn’t put up a picture of the charming and historic Burns Philp warehouse in Normanton up in outback Queensland.
