Robe’s most famous lighthouse isn’t a lighthouse at all it’s an Obelisk. Built in 1855 with handsome stripes to aid vision it can be seen from 20 kms away. I doubt that it will remain on the cliff forever as … Continue reading The Lighthouses of Robe
March 2018 Suffering another dose of ‘new town excitement’ we head into Adelaide CBD for a look around, a haircut and lunch. The city is busy and in search of parking we find ourselves in the hip East End. We have an entertaining lunch at East End Cellars. It is a perfect place for lunch with great decor, wine by the glass and tasting plates. The entertainment is freely provided by the passing parade of hip young folk in ill-fitting clothes which leave us guessing as to their gender. A few kilometres from Streaky Bay, Elle & El Prado blow or should I say shred a caravan tyre. They ring the RAA and prepare lunch in the van, help promptly arrives before they can barely take a bite. Another reason why all vanners should join their state’s version of RACV Total Care! Continue reading Well blow me down
Victor Harbour in South Australia is a quaint town with pretty paved streets and grand two storey pubs. The horse drawn tram still takes tourists along the causeway to Granite Island. Though there is something new in the bay now, … Continue reading Victor Harbour
How lucky were we on a Sunday afternoon when we stumbled upon The Earl of Leicester Hotel in Adelaide’s suburban Parkside a classic local pub in a quiet back street. Elegant, classy and welcoming. Continue reading The Earl of Leicester
