Day 40 Saturday 18/6/2016, Rollingstone, hot 28 We have only one chore to do today…put up the annexe. After huffing and puffing, red faces and sweating we finally collapse exhausted but with the annexe looking pretty good. Well, it is only our second try and we halved the erection time. Only three hours this time and worth it for the extra space seeing that we’re putting our feet up for a while. Meeting Crocodile Dundee

Winter 2018, Rollingstone, Qld Crocodile Dundee? Well the other day I met our friend ‘S’ struggling up the beach after having walked from Balgal Beach. What’s so special about that you may ask it’s only a kilometre or so. Nobody, but nobody walks to Balgal Beach because there is a crocodile infested creek between it and Rollingstone. Camped in Rollingstone, Qld we had a shower of rain during the night. (Readers please note: a shower in tropical north Queensland seems to be the equivalent of Melbourne’s annual rainfall in a matter of ten short minutes). We raced outside to drop the clears on the annexe and by the time we’d finished unrolling and zipping the rain had almost stopped. All we could do was stand and laugh because I was in a T shirt and Woody in his undies and there we were soaked to the skin and dripping, just a couple of drowned old farts. Fish and Chips Anyone?

Camped at Rollingstone, Qld we can clearly see the Balgal Beach fish cafe from our caravan window and it’s only a few hundred metres away, how good is that? We can see its lights blinking temptingly as we close our blinds at night. But it’s not good at all because it’s a fourteen kilometre drive to get there. Huh, 14kms? Moon Rise Rollingstone

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…. Located in far North Queensland or FNQ as it is known by the locals, Rollingstone beach is your quintessential tropical beach, swaying palms and a host of offshore islands that form part of the Great Barrier Reef region. We oohed and aahed as the sunset turned the sky all shades of pinks and lilacs then the moon rose gracefully from behind an island. A dozen people just stood on the beach totally gobsmacked.
