Capricorn Dancers, Day 43 – Recycling

Day 43 Thursday 8/7/21 Tannum Sands, sunny 23 Enjoying a coffee from the local cafe, we wave the others off as they go in search of somewhere to stay. With so many families on the road for the school holidays in their new Covid acquired rigs one can no longer roam about the countryside without pre booking. We have a quiet day in the sun then feed the turkeys at sundown. Woody is worried about our batteries as we have a few more cloudy days coming up. We’ve noticed this trip that there are recycling bins for 10 cent return … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 43 – Recycling

Capricorn Dancers, Day 39 – Beautiful one day

Day 39 Sunday 4/7/21 Tannum Sands, sunny 23 The sun is shining. We fling open the windows and the roof hatches, sweep off the rain and mud spatters. The birds are singing and the coughing neighbour’s useless husband is trying to pack up. We’re taking bets on how long he’ll take. We have refreshing walks on the beach. There are dozens of ships offshore waiting their turn to enter Gladstone harbour. We snooze in the sun. And cook pan fried salmon with brown rice salad for dinner. All is right with the world again. Capricorn Dancers, Day 37 – Precipitation

Day 37 Friday 2/7/21 Tannum Sands, more rain 23 This trip we’re learning a lot about precipitation. It starts raining again just after breakfast, thankfully it’s already a pleasant 20 degrees. Driving over to Boyne Island is a much quieter shopping experience than in Bundaberg. If Covid has taught us one thing it’s an appreciation of less crowded places. The rain continues all afternoon and Woody goes for a long walk. Double or Nuthin’ and Shirley Temple ring, (remember they left home on May 27th but turned around and went home to another lockdown) they’re now at Seymour in Victoria … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 37 – Precipitation

Capricorn Dancers, Day 36 – A Quick Getaway

Day 36 Thursday 1/7/21 Woodgate to Tannum Sands, warm 26 Not to be beaten I drag out the shorts again for another try. We have warm sunshine at last and Woody can sit in the sun. I go for a short walk along the beach and thankfully it is short as Woody rings to tell me that we have to be out by 10:00am! It is 10:00, hell is that the date already? We should be on the road. Mind you we’re glad to be leaving this park. It’s untidy, the dump point is faulty, there’s only one clothes dryer … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 36 – A Quick Getaway

Capricorn Dancers, Day 34 – Everyone loves Bundy

Day 34 Tuesday 29/6/21 Woodgate, sunny 23 It’s an easy drive of 54 kms into Bundaberg, the home of Bundaberg rum (Bundy) through forests and orchards of macadamias, mangoes and even chillies. It seems that most fruit and vegetables are grown here in abundance. After doing some shopping on Bourbong St it’s down to the riverside for a nice fish lunch at Grunske’s fish cafe. But, our plans are thwarted as it is Tuesday and they are closed on Tuesdays. Changing tack we pick up the groceries in a very crowded shopping centre, grab some sushi and eat it in … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 34 – Everyone loves Bundy
