Day 40 Monday 5/7/21 Tannum Sands, sunny 24
We drive into Gladstone for a rather special lunch at Classic Thai in the Rydges hotel precinct. The lunch is delicious and complimented by a rather nice Sauvignon Blanc.
We admire the grand buildings of Goondoon St, discover a seafood market down on the river and admire the view from Auckland Hill. Why the name? Early settlers arrived on a ship named The Lord of Auckland. This is an interesting town.
Back in Tannum Sands while I take a walk on the beach Woody sneaks out to buy dessert. Itās a warm night and we eat our prawns, oysters and tiramisu outside with a Morris Sparkling Shiraz. Bats are squabbling in the trees. Itās a perfect day indeed.
On the Covid front, friends ring from Katherine, NT. Theyāre stuck waiting for the WA border to open and were due in Broome 4 days ago. Case numbers in Sydney are still high.

Weāve got friends locked down in Darwin. Theyāre waiting it out with plenty if booze and food in good hotel. So theyāre happy. Sounds like you finally had a good, sunny day.
