Capricorn Dancers, Day 34 – Everyone loves Bundy

Day 34 Tuesday 29/6/21 Woodgate, sunny 23

It’s an easy drive of 54 kms into Bundaberg, the home of Bundaberg rum (Bundy) through forests and orchards of macadamias, mangoes and even chillies. It seems that most fruit and vegetables are grown here in abundance.

After doing some shopping on Bourbong St it’s down to the riverside for a nice fish lunch at Grunske’s fish cafe. But, our plans are thwarted as it is Tuesday and they are closed on Tuesdays. Changing tack we pick up the groceries in a very crowded shopping centre, grab some sushi and eat it in a lakeside park watching the ibis and magpie geese doing what they do.

We’re into tray bakes this trip and they make a lot of sense as they can be cooking whilst you’re at happy hour or like tonight when it is cool outside an hour of fan forced roasting leaves us stripped down to our undies for dinner. And what forced this striptease? Chicken Saltimbocca.

I find ads on country TV really interesting, farm equipment, sheep dips, fertiliser. Interesting stuff, but tonight there was an ad for a funeral director showing sweeping views of a lawn cemetery. “Ooh” Woody sparks up “Do you think they’d allow free camping?”

Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Townsville go into a 3 day lockdown. Thankfully we’re not in those regions.
