Banned on the Run, Day 73 Coraki to Darlington Beach

Day 73 Saturday 22/8/20 Coraki to Darlington Beach We farewell VeeWee today, she’s going inland but only up the road to Casino. We’re returning to Darlington Beach on the Coffs Coast. We chug off down a now very familiar A1 freeway with a stiff tail wind pushing us. As we turn onto Solitary Islands Way another caravanner radios us to say that one of our bathroom hatches is flapping. Sure enough, the hatch above the toilet the one which had developed a crack at Wooli has been picked up by the tail wind and snapped backwards towards the front of … Continue reading Banned on the Run, Day 73 Coraki to Darlington Beach

Banned on the Run, A splash of colour

Aug 2020, Coraki, NSW Before we leave Coraki, it seems I must speak up in support of the town as it does appear that I tend to photograph those buildings that are most in need of paint, repair and renovation. To warm your hearts here’s a joyous and welcoming home that sports a rainbow of colours… Continue reading Banned on the Run, A splash of colour

Banned on the Run, Days 62 – 64 – Getting Itchy Feet

Aug 2020, Evans Head, NSW We’re getting itchy feet again especially after our feral neighbour experience. We cook burgers in the camp kitchen and toss up where we’ll go next. Boy that’s an easy decision, we’ll go to Coraki rather than taking up our option of a third week here. The Prado’s drive into Ballina to do some shopping and decide to have lunch at the RSL Club which is a favourite of ours as the meals and the view of the Richmond River are excellent. But lunch isn’t to be, they are knocked back for being from a Victorian … Continue reading Banned on the Run, Days 62 – 64 – Getting Itchy Feet

Banned on the Run, Where the waters meet

August 2020, Evans Head, NSW Briefly escaping our feral neighbours at Evans Head and with VeeWee and Nic in the back seat we drive over to Coraki just to see what’s there, as so many roads in these parts seem to lead to it. Following the GPS we find ourselves on an unmade and corrugated road and cursing that Coraki better be bloody well worth it. And yes, it is. We find an old town that was once much larger and busier than it is now. Situated at the joining of the Wilsons River and the wide Richmond River, charming … Continue reading Banned on the Run, Where the waters meet

Banned on the Run – Covid Safety on the Road

Or Sanitiser and unavoidable touch points We have been ‘on the road’ for 60 or so days since leaving Victoria at the end of the first lockdown. With no plans we now find ourselves wandering around northern New South Wales trying to avoid the virus and discover warm and interesting places to enjoy. The places that we once raced past in our haste to get to Queensland. In this ‘road life’ it’s hard not to use public restrooms sometimes. We had intended not to use them on our way north but we hadn’t factored in our dodgy caravan door. If … Continue reading Banned on the Run – Covid Safety on the Road
