Capricorn Dancers, Day 73 – I’ll be with you in a minute

Day 73 Saturday 7/8/21 Mulambin, sunny 22 We are constantly hearing worrying stories of older grey nomads making the dash through NSW to get home to Victoria. If only the government would allow them an extra day it would be much safer. We decide to extend our booking again until Aug 25th. Walking the park, I spot a woman cutting her husband’s hair in the sun, with Ernie the emu sitting in front of the husband looking as though he is waiting his turn for a trim. We have a quiet day lazing in the sun with the emu while … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 73 – I’ll be with you in a minute

Capricorn Dancers, Day 72 – Compare the hair

Day 72 Friday 6/8/21 Mulambin, cloudy 20 Hands laden with the makings of an alfresco breakfast Woody nudges the door open to be greeted face to face by Ernie the emu! I’m in bed, sheets up to my chin as he’s shouting “Jesus, there’s an emu out here!” After breakfast he, Woody that is, drives into town for a haircut and returns vowing not to leave the car…for at least two weeks. Capricorn Dancers, Day 63 – Vegan Contemplation

Day 63 Wednesday 28/7/21 Mulambin, Sunny 24 The Prado’s and the Nuthin’s go to Gracemere east of Rockhampton to see the cattle saleyards in action. We bow out as we have been before, though it is a must see when in Central Queensland. After a morning of looking into those big beautiful doe eyes of Brahmans they return vowing not to eat beef…for a while at least. For me it’s a quiet day cleaning the cream sauce out of the oven. Silicon and MV pop in for happy hour and make a booking to stay here for a few days. … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 63 – Vegan Contemplation

Capricorn Dancers, Day 62 – Cowboys and Indians

Day 62 Tuesday 27/7/21 Mulambin, sunny 23 I pop into a clinic for another shot (this time it’s one to keep oldies moving) and aside from the man with bright pink hair there’s a cowboy in the waiting room. A real one, the hat, the boots and the bowed legs and an ad for a rodeo on his shirt. I’m called in to see the doc and he’s an Indian (of the subcontinental variety). The doc directs me to the nursing station where one nurse has a persistent cough, and the one I get tells me that she’s new. Hopefully … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 62 – Cowboys and Indians
