Day 54 Monday Mulambin 19/7/21, sunny 21 We’re up early again, this time to farewell our mates Kath & Kim who are heading west to Emerald today on their way home to Perth via the Barkly Highway into the Northern Territory and on down through the length of WA. We wish them luck but none of us is envious of them as both borders are harsh at present and critical of where folks have been. Capricorn Dancers, Day 52 – Drugs?

Day 52 Saturday 17/7/21 Mulambin, sunny 24 My beach shoes are hanging on the guy rope outside and Woody says that it means that we have drugs for sale. We have more drugs on board that’s you can jump over but they’re to keep us alive and stop us from tripping out whenever we stand up. We hear from Double or Nuthin’ and Shirley Temple, they’re making their way north after visiting the family in Brisbane. Day 50 Thursday 15/7/21 Mulambin, sunny Woody is up early to take the car into Rocky for a service. He puts the first load of washing on as he goes. I strip the bed and hit the ground running with the sheets. A young chap is at the laundry door scratching his head. “Gee you have to be early don’t you.” I later realise that I should have warned him to watch out for the Laundry Nazi’s. Day 49 Wednesday 14/7/21 Mulambin, wet & warm 21 It’s Woody’s 75th birthday and it’s raining but he comes back from his morning walk with an armload of passion fruit. El Prado had spotted a laden vine that hangs over a nearby footpath dropping fruit for all. We meet in Yeppoon for a birthday lunch at the Railway Hotel where the patrons are colourful and the food ordinary except, the birthday boy scores a Chilli Garlic Prawn and Moreton Bay Bug Spaghetti that is excellent. Day 45 Saturday 10/7/21 Tannum Sands to Rockhampton, sunny 22 We’ve been unpowered for a week now and Woody is worried about the health of our batteries. We detour to Gladstone Aldi to buy a small solar powered gadget charger as an extra, or is that an excuse to check this week’s Aldi centre aisle specials? Day 44 Friday 9/7/21 Tannum Sands, overcast 21 We have a few drops of rain, but the morning is pleasant. I’m feeling inadequate. As I sit in the camp kitchen chatting with the cleaner and charging the iPad, a woman marches in with a full-sized mixer and starts making a cake. I’m beginning to think that there’s a little bit of one upmanship between the regulars in this park.
