Rollingstone Pub

June 2018, Rollingstone, Qld The Rollingstone Pub is on the Bruce Highway. The pub is famous for the old fire engine parked out front which makes it something of a landmark on the Bruce. We partake of the $10 Tradie lunch. Elle tucks into a fine T bone and the rest of us choose rissoles, gravy and chips. How Queensland is that? Rissoles, gravy and chips. Noosa and Tewantin

Jul 2017, Sunshine Coast, Qld Tewantin is agreeable to the eye with plenty of trees and people in a hurry. But then this is the town that drives the holiday resort town of Noosa Heads. Tewantin is the business end with solid old Queenslanders, wandering gardens. Accountants, lawyers and supermarkets. Noosa is the pretty face with luxury homes, sparkling white apartment blocks and hotels of gleaming glass, fronting a small but lovely stretch of sand contained by the National Park and the Noosa River. Clean up Oz

Winter 2018, Queensland On an afternoon walk on the beach I meet a woman with a large bag of rubbish which inspires me because the beach looks clean. In minutes I have found three cans and a styrofoam foam tray. I huff and puff trying to remove a chunk of fibreglass from the sand before realising that it may have been the whole boat. In future I’ll carry a knife to cut nets and rope from driftwood but I’m not going to dig up boats. Continue reading Clean up Oz
