Capricorn Dancers, Day 22 – Kenilworth Showgrounds

Day 22 Thursday 17/6/21 Somerset to Kenilworth, warm There isn’t any fog this morning and we’re woken by the warmth. At last! I guess you’ve realised by now that we’re desperate for warm weather. To avoid hills we take a … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 22 – Kenilworth Showgrounds

Capricorn Dancers, Day 17 – This is winter

Day 17 Saturday 12/6/21 Palm Beach (The Kardashian Coast) Sunny Walks on the creek are lovely and it’s hard to believe that it’s winter. The sky is so bright. The pathway is busy with posers, joggers and everyone making the most of what is a long weekend. It’s still a shock for us that social distancing doesn’t seem to exist.here. We take a walk around Burleigh Heads. It’s super busy and we watch the surfers and the passing parade before meeting Woody the Elder and The Very Good Golfer at the Burleigh Heads Surf Club for lunch. We have a … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 17 – This is winter

Capricorn Dancers, Day 16 – Border, what border?

Day 16 Friday 11/6/21 Casino to Palm Beach, warm sunny The uncertainty is getting to us. Do we risk 4 days in Murwillumbah Showgrounds at $25 per night and cross the border daily with no guarantee that we can continue into Qld when we are ready to move on or do we go into Qld and stay at Tallebudgera Creek for $65 per night? We set off for Murwillumbah then change our minds and head for a border crossing. As we cruise up the Pacific Highway the car balks at the gentle hills and starts over revving. We had never … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 16 – Border, what border?

Capricorn Dancers, Day 15 – Waiting in Casino

Day 15 Thursday 10/6/21 Casino, sunny cool breeze Cool with bright sunshine. There are heavy snowfalls in the highlands of NSW, floods and gale force winds in Victoria. We’re grateful to have dodged that weather. Victoria will ease Covid restrictions tonight but Melburnians will still be limited to a 25km radius. MV and her husband Silicon (he’s a builder who’s always extolling the virtues of silicon) have had their Covid test, emptied their toilet (as per park instructions) and are now awaiting their results. They must not leave their site, so Silicon sits outside shouting to the neighbours (God, he … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 15 – Waiting in Casino

Capricorn Dancers, Day 14 – Dodging the weather

Day 14 Wednesday 9/6/21 Casino, 10-18 rain cool wind Gentle rain overnight rinses the dust off the car and van. We have a quiet day to rest and clean the van from top to bottom. The rain stops at 10:30am then a fierce cold wind dries everything off and forces us to pull the awning in. Which doesn’t sound like much, but and I know this might sound strange, the van never feels like home until the awning is out. Just ask any Aussie caravanner. We intend to visit Queensland on Friday which will be our 16th day out of … Continue reading Capricorn Dancers, Day 14 – Dodging the weather
