Day 22 Thursday 17/6/21 Somerset to Kenilworth, warm
There isn’t any fog this morning and we’re woken by the warmth. At last! I guess you’ve realised by now that we’re desperate for warm weather.
To avoid hills we take a rather circuitous route. After following the lakeshore up to Kilcoy we head east to Beerwah then pick up the Bruce (Bruce Hwy, M1) before peeling off to the west again to Kenilworth.
The Kenilworth Showgrounds are busy and we get a lovely site with views across the lawns of the Mary River levee bank. Located in the Main Street of town, everything is within walking distance baker, grocery and pub. Across the road is the renowned cheese maker Kenilworth Dairies where we find a scrumptious chocolate mousse. The little town is busy with campers and day trippers but best of all is the amount of earnings that these Showgrounds bring to the town.

We get news from Melbourne that Lockdown #4 will end at midnight. The Prado’s and their in laws whom we’ll call ‘Kath & Kim’ will leave first thing in the morning. There have been a couple of Covid cases in Sydney.
Accom: $22.00 (Power, water, showers, toilets, dump point now that’s good value)
Towing Kms: 161kms
Very good value indeed!
