Flinders Ranges – What a difference a day makes

Day 12 Thursday 22/8/2024 Murray Bridge, SA to Horsham, Vic, clear 17.5

It’s a long straight and familiar road with light traffic. We have a few sprinkles of rain. We take a short break at the little highway town of Keith and grab a bite at Henry & Rose café before crossing the border into Victoria. At Nhill it’s time for another pit stop and a coffee and the parking here is excellent.

Arriving at Horsham Showgrounds, boy, do we get a different reception from yesterday at Murray Bridge. I walk into the office to find Turkish carpets, dried flower arrangements, a glamorous velvet sofa, and wait for it….a very helpful staff member. She apologizes for the tradesmen who are getting the grounds ready for the upcoming Horsham Show next month. Showing us where to park she tells us to set up wherever we feel most comfortable. We can drop our grey water anywhere, it’s good for the grass and please use our lovely new toilets.

Horsham Showgrounds flushing toilets, and we’ve got the place to ourselves

Blimey, we have a view of the Wimmera River, there are toilets and showers and the new toilet block. Each of the pavilion buildings is decorated with potted plants and creative farm tool arrangements. Who would have thought that a row of shovels would be pleasing to the eye, but someone here is very creative.

Sadly, this is our last night of the trip. VeeWee has been on the road for about 3 months and we have pressing appointments. We have happy hour in Elle’s motorhome before cooking a pizza in the air fryer.
