The drive through the Coorong is fascinating. For 140Kms there are salt pans on one side of us and the bird filled waters of the Coorong waterway on the other, a backdrop of dunes holds the sea at bay in the distance. Ti Tree lines the road and Norfolk pines shelter small settlements. Fishing shacks are almost hidden by scrub. I can’t believe that I once thought this drive was boring with nothing to see. Now I wish that we had a camper trailer so that we could explore the narrow limestone tracks that head towards the sea.

There are fantastic campsites tucked away off the beach and the fishing is really fun, mulloway if you’re lucky.

It’s such a beautiful area. But the Mulloway are safe we couldn’t kill a fish to save ourselves let alone catch one!

I was also told there was nothing there. I ended up stopping and just sitting around for ages watching the pelicans. It’s got such a lovely feel about it. Cheers, Coral.

I guess we all see things through different eyes. I would love to just sit and just take it in.
