Go West, Day 8 – Penong

Day 8

Saturday 14th March 2015

Pildappa Rock to Penong (Cohen School Site)

We travel through wheat fields all the way to Ceduna. There isn’t a cloud in the sky and it is painfully bright without sunglasses.

Ceduna is as pretty as a picture. The calm blue bay is lined with Norfolk Pines and lush green grass. After stocking up on supplies we have fish and chips at the Ceduna Hotel overlooking the bay.

By mid afternoon it is 37 degrees so we stop at the Cohen School Site Rest Area for the night. The school ruins are in the paddock nearby and there is mallee scrub shading us. The old bush fence posts sag with rusting wire.

Note: The South Australian coast is famous for its King George Whiting.
