It’s a long way to the top, Day 70 – Longreach

Day 70 Thursday Aug 14th 2014 Ilfracombe to Longreach

We wake to a bright orange sunrise and the air smells of the bush. Within an hour the wind is howling from the east, dusty and unpleasant. We drive the grand distance of 27kms into Longreach, wash the van and set up at the Longreach Tourist park.

It is a huge van park all gravel and about 170 sites. Quite the opposite of Ilfracombe.

Double or Nuthin’ and Shirley Temple arrive late afternoon after having driven up via Emerald (Qld). We all have a serious dose of first night excitement catching up on our adventures. It starts to rain at about 10:00pm.

Towing Kms: 27Kms

Gosh, is that a Qantas jumbo outside the window?
