Day 48 Tuesday 13/7/21 Rockhampton to Mulambin, warm 21

At last, the final drive into Yeppoon. We’ve waited two years for this having made a repeat booking not long after leaving here in 2019, we failed to get into Queensland last year due to Covid border issues. The Yeppoon Road is only a few blocks away but we’re so busy trying to solve the issues of the Sydney Covid outbreak that we miss the turnoff.

Back on track after having found yet another suburb of Rockhampton we’re soon in Yeppoon and stop for a coffee as we’re just a tad early. Attic Coffee, down a lane, then up two flights of steep wooden outside stairs and we’re above the Baked on 44 bakery. It’s a quaint cafe that feels a little like someone’s home with a great view of the town.

We reach Mulambin and NRMA Capricorn Resort. We’ve got a good site just behind the one we had two years ago. We have a concrete slab, plenty of lawn and gardens either side of us. Like all good parks it’s enough to inspire me to give Priscilla a damn good scrub.

Returning to town for some Chinese Sausage, as you do, we quickly discover that the Asian grocery is no longer. A visit to Woolies for the Lup Cheong and surprise, surprise they have air fryers on special at $45. It looks like Woody has an unexpected birthday present.

We have happy hour at the Prado van and El Prado cooks dim sims and Elle instructs us in how to cook chips in the new air fryer. Kath & Kim have had their 2nd Astra Zeneca shots in Yeppoon and received lollipops. I doubt they needed any incentive.

Dinner is an unbelievable T Bone steak with air fryer chips. The Barney Point Butchery in Gladstone has come up trumps again.
