Yackety Yack, Day 40 – Queenslanders & Pesky Lawn Ants

Day 40 Saturday 17/6/2023 Pomona, some cloud 9 – 21

On his morning walk, Woody spots a hot air balloon in flight. Flying over the kiln-shaped Glasshouse Mountains, named by Lt. James Cook, would be breathtaking. Woody returns with Danish pastries from the market.

We have a quiet day. Several vans leave giving us all some breathing space. We learn that the park manager still has her L Plates on. She’s only been in the job for 3 weeks and is anxious to bring it back up to standard. One of the positives is that the laundry is right behind us. Now, where are the clotheslines? They’re halfway across the park.

Our view of Mt Cooroora is too good not to sketch and the sun is warm.

There are some good examples of ‘Queenslanders’ (the style of home not the people) in the streets around us. Across the road in Pavilion Street is ‘Pavilion en Blanc’.

Mounds created by Pasture Funnel Ants, keeping a lawn tidy would be difficult in this climate

Woody hitches the car up and lifts the van legs in an effort to beat the girls to be ready in the morning. I don’t like his chances.

Elle does a stocktake and realises that she has 28 meals on board. We’re going to have to ban her from shopping in future. On second thoughts, she is a bloody good cook.

The evening chill drives us in early. Dinner is chicken schnitzel, potato gems (cooked in the air fryer), and a Greek Salad.
