Gippsland Bound – Homeward Bound

Day 7 Saturday 21/10/2023 Tarra Valley to Home, rain threatening

Toothless and his Missus leave early to head home as their van has to be stored. We take our time and it is rather amusing having to squeeze over on the narrow road to let 5 cars pass. We wonder where they are all going.

A rather pleasant window view, Tarra Valley

We take a stroll around Yarram, it’s a nice town with a tree-lined main street and this morning is reasonably busy. Signs now declare it to be HEESCO Town as the silo & mural artist Heesco has been busy here painting murals on every available space.

We take a quick detour into Tarraville to see Gippsland’s oldest church. Painted blue and white and of timber construction it was built in 1856 in the Gothic Revival style it is well worth the detour.

At Foster, we stretch our legs and call into Prom Meats for a kilo of their fat pork sausages. As always the town looks a treat but their many garden beds are currently being prepared for the summer displays.

Foster Museum, timber was in abundance in Gippsland’s early days.

Rolling on through the hills we stop for a lamb and rosemary pie at Meeniyan’s ‘Bread & Pickles’ which sells neither bread nor pickles, but pies.
