A White Christmas?

Christmas Eve 2023

Yesterday, I trudged along the beach grateful that I’d brought along the sunglasses as the sand at McCrae was blindingly white and soft, hence the trudging. It was easier to kick off the shoes and have a pleasant paddle. This is a magical time on the Port Phillip shores of the Southern Peninsula as thousands of city escapees are heading down for weeks of camping under the shady ti-tree, just steps from the water’s edge. Caravans, tents, swags, and enough Weber BBQ’s to feed everyone who drops in.

From now until Easter things will get crazily busy, local residents will grit their teeth and complain about the traffic. Business owners will be shouting “Come on down”, as several were when we were lunching last week.

Yes, regardless of religious persuasion, it’s time to kick back, don the thongs (both types), crack a coldie, and peel a few prawns.

Wishing all our readers a peaceful and relaxing festive season wherever you are.
