Day 8 Saturday 24/2/2024 Rochester, sunny cool breeze 29˚
The Rochy Show has cranked up again and as we walk over we are surprised to see that it’s even busier than last night. In the livestock sheds a well-endowed billy goat has his testicles pressed up against a sign announcing “(Boer Goat) semen available package deals”.

At the back of the shed are chooks all fluffed up and looking pretty and in the equestrian area the horses have been brushed to a shine with chequerboard patterns on their rumps and their heads held proud. As usual, the ponies are stubborn, their owners frustrated and there are a few standoffs taking place.

For us, today’s educational moment must be the Jersey Udder competition. Those sweet doe-eyed girls are at bursting point with leaking udders so engorged they can barely walk. Gosh, I’m glad I switched to soy.

By 3:00pm the show is over and everyone is packing up. I wonder where their next destination will be? We slowly pack up too, it’s time to head home.

Day 9 Sunday 25/2/2024 Rochester to Home, 29˚
On our way home we call in for a cuppa and a long overdue catch-up with Elle. Then it’s a straight run down the Calder Highway and home.
Summary
Rochester Riverside Caravan Park is a delightful spot to just kick back and relax and the locals would love to see more visitors enjoy their beautiful town. There’s a lot to see in the area and it’s only a short drive from Melbourne.

Was the Boer Goat a self service stand?

I liked the look on the goat on the next stall. It seems to be saying “Crikey, you’re a showoff Bill”

A great place for a short get away. I love country shows. We are now doing just short get aways. The long hauls are a thing of the past.
