Capricorn Coast, Qld
You will have gathered by now that I don’t mind a good beach. When you spend your childhood plodding about the mud, mangroves, and swimming it is a given that you’ll end up a beachcombing paddler. Only this week, I popped out to get a new sketching pen and ended up with wet, salty jeans. It’s not my fault that they put the stationery warehouse opposite a very nice beach, nor that the pens were out of stock. Anyway, back to Queensland.
Starting at the base of Double Head National Park, Kemp Beach stretches to the south, a quiet sandy beach with of course, views to the islands. If the coffee cart is there, grab a cup, sit on the beach and ponder the wonders of nature. A popular spot for serious walkers is the climb up to the summit lookout at the southern end of the beach, Bluff Point.
