Cape Byron Light

Built in 1899 and situated on the easternmost point is the country’s most powerful light. Designed by Charles Harding in the style of colonial architect James Barnet. It is a most imposing structure.

When we visit there is a traffic jam of tourist buses and cars. Out to sea the whale migration is in full swing with record numbers this year. Few tourists are looking at the lighthouse most are peering out to sea pointing and shouting “Look there!”

On the cliffs below a small rock wallaby is quietly munching. This has to be a tourism trifecta.
