A community art project by the people of Benalla, Vic under the guidance of artists Judy Lorraine and David W. Moore, this ingenious, yet whimsical sculpture of ceramics and terracotta drew on the talents of more than a thousand recognised artists, students and volunteers and took 27 years to complete.
It begs one to walk through it, to sit, to touch and to wonder at its beauty and setting on the shores of lake Benalla.
“Murial
A sign and a wonder, she announces the presence of dreamers and artisans and stands for civic values other than progress and profit, a magnificent folly, a handmade organic, curly, vulnerable sacred cubby, a cathedral for ducks and platypi and a reproach to the limitations of nationalism.” Tom Robertson 2010
