Filled with excitement we wake early to see the hot air balloons rising on the lawn in front of Old Parliament House. It is too breezy to fly today but three balloons are inflated and the crews explain aspects of their equipment. Hundreds of people mill about the lawns munching food truck breakfasts, some in suits on their way to work, many with kids in tow enjoying the spectacle as the gas burners flare. We always knew this town was full of hot air.

Such a shame it was too windy, but still an awesome site, I’m sure!

They are captivating, though I’d rather keep my feet on the ground.

I’ve always thought hot air balloons were kind of cool (how’s that for an oxymoron?) and colorful and interesting. But I’ve always been too lazy to get up in those early morning hours they try to fly in before the day’s heat triggers the winds. Good on you for making the commitment.
