Tocumwal Town Beach

July 2019, Tocumwal, NSW

A delightful riverside freedom camp situated on a sandy bend of the Murray just behind and walking distance from the town. $10 per night per van gives you a water tap and clean toilets and traffic noise is slight. Courtesy buses are available for transport to the local pubs and clubs.

Would we return? Definitely, as it’s an easy drive from Melbourne when heading north to the Newell Highway. And like so many Victorians we always like a spiritual fix of The Mighty Murray and especially in a town as charming as Tocumwal. The kangaroos are an added bonus.

A wide sandy bend of the Murray River at Tocumwal is pleasant even in winter.

  1. We were in Tocumwal about a week after you, on way home from short trip into NSW. But The Driver’s need for 240v power ties us to caravan parks. There is a great one in town that actually has a fenced run for dog exercise – should be more of them!

    1. What a shame the timing was out, mind you if we had met we probably would’ve chatted away oblivious to our identities! We are rather passionate about Toc having spent many summers down river. When passing thru we usually stop at the Big 4 behind the shops but this time we wanted a change and we were pleasantly surprised. Safe travels.
