Cooee Bay is a small crescent of beach sheltered by Wreck Point, so named for a boat that once washed up here. In 1848 having lost her crew sometime after leaving Brisbane on her way to Sydney, the 62 ton schooner Selina and her cargo of cedar logs is presumed to have drifted with the currents south to Gabo Island, east to New Zealand and north to Yeppoon a possibly crewless voyage of close to 5000kms.

Our coastline is filled with treacherous history and wrecks isn’t it.
