Now that’s not a heading you often see.
We were up early to take Double or ‘Nuthin and Shirley to the Yeppoon Farmer’s Market which turned out to be a bit of a non-event. Double or ‘Nuthin had been told to look for the pineapple juice. He found it and bought some, frozen, in an old vinegar bottle. Demand must be fierce as they don’t even have the time to soak the labels off the bottles. Anyway, he reckons it was good.
Although on this overcast morning there weren’t many stalls we stocked up on large passionfruit, roughy pineapples and Pisang Ducasse bananas all of which we can’t get down south. The bananas are creamy and sweet, look like Lady Fingers but are much better and we got to chat with the guy who grows them. It turns out that they’re not a particularly viable crop for commercial purposes. All of which sounds a bit like the tomato situation these days, doesn’t it?
