It’s a long way to the top, Days 90 & 91 – Reacquainting with city ways

Day 90 Wednesday Sep 3rd 2014 Rainbow Beach to Brisbane

We’re woken by the kookaburras to a clear pleasant morning. There is a light breeze. It’s time to leave and continue the journey south.

Tired of the Bruce Highway we turn off to Eumundi and are thrilled to find that it is market day. We haven’t been here since the market first began decades ago. The town is colourful and busy and the market stretches over a wide area. No, we don’t want a psychic reading or a massage or a T Shirt declaring that we love beer. But the food is great and the coffee OK.

Back in Brisbane we’re in shock at the noise of city life, road traffic, planes, sirens and was that a gunshot as we set up at the Gateway Lifestyle Caravan Park in Aspley. Ear plugs would help. But there are lots of Dan Murphy (liquor) stores!

Day 91 Thursday Sep 4th 2014 Brisbane

Today it’s time to clean the van, stock up on supplies and get ready for the last leg of the trip. We even go to a shopping centre and realise that the world of David Jones (department store) with its perfumed air is a far cry from life in the bush.
