Day 4, 13/5/2016, Friday, Balranald, Blue skies nothing but blue skies, 21 degrees
It’s only a short two block walk into town along the riverbank. There are detailed story boards telling the war experiences of locals but I can’t read them all and keep up with the others as well. A young lady tells us to visit the Homebush Hotel out of town, they’re a friendly bunch here. The visitor centre is exceptionally good and they have an RV park out the back with toilets, showers and drinking water. That has us nomads all nodding with pleasure. We do quite a bit more chatting in the sun and walk across the swing bridge and through the forests of the flood plains. The river is home to kookaburras and parrots and we spot yellow rosellas of the South Australian variety and uncommon in our neck of the woods. We cook potatoes in the fire pit and eat dinner on the riverbank. What more could one ask for?

2021 Note: That RV park behind the Info Centre is a good one and we have an overnight stay there on our way to Cunnamulla in 2018.

Looks idyllic

Was there some reason for the teacups on the fences? Charming! I’m afraid in my country (U.S.) they would be stolen.

Just a little creativity I would think. Eew! Reckon you might need double knots in your shoelaces so they don’t knock those off too.😉
