Red Dirt, Day 15 – A beer and a punt

Saturday November 3rd 2012, Corowa

We start the day with espresso coffees all round at our van (of course we brought the coffee machine), then walk into town. Being Melbourne Cup Weekend the boys head off to the Corowa Hotel (there are 5 pubs in town) for a beer and a bet. The girls do a spot of shopping and there are plenty of shops to explore.

We have a lovely lunch on the motel lawns overlooking the river. Dinner is at the Old Empire Hotel which has done us proud in the past. We have an exceptionally good meal, I’d love the recipe for the Chicken Italienne, followed by drinks back at the motel. This time we manage to find our van in amongst the revellers, but boy are they in fine form.

Parliament Street Corowa, a hint to the role this town played in the federation of Australia
