Breakdown Blues – Days 102 & 103 – Time to say goodbye again

Sept 2022, Nambucca Heads, NSW

There’s a wonderful spear fisherman statue in the garden by the V Wall that explains how the indigenous people of this area knew when the mullet were running. Hairy grubs, butterflies, and wattle blooming were the signs and are incorporated into this sculpture. Viewers are asked to touch the sculpture to feel the culture. I find a blue-tongued lizard wandering through the park.

The school holidays start this weekend, so we decide to aim for Maitland Showgrounds as our first stop, fingers crossed that we can get in.

If you look closely you’ll see the tip of his blue tongue

Double or Nuthin’ and Shirley Temple arrive looking exhausted. Shirley has arrhythmia problems and has even had an ECG in Nambucca Heads on the way here. VeeWee is having back troubles.

The weather has turned cold.

Shirley is much improved. It’s packing up day again and there’s light rain. We have a few short walks. The boys BBQ lamb chops and we have dinner in the camp kitchen.

Double or Nuthin’ and Shirley Temple have decided to spend a few weeks on the coast taking it easy if they can find somewhere to stay at a reasonable price. Here the prices will jump from $32.00 a night to $99.00.

Fuel: $98.18 (211.9 c/l)
