Yackety Yack, Day 16 – A sad farewell

Day 16 Wednesday 24/5/2023 Gunnedah, minus 2 – 22 sunny

A long sleep in, and then we have a sad goodbye. A call from home means that Mrs. Have a Chat must curtail her holiday and head home to the family. We wish her well and hope that all turns out for the best.

Even Buddy looks sad

There’s a popular tree growing in the front gardens of Gunnedah with a peach-pink flower that is like a Bougainvillea. We text our mate MV who tells us it’s a Golden Rain Tree.

Whatever it’s called it is a beautiful tree.

After lunch, we drive up to Porcupine Lookout and marvel at the expansive view of the town and the Liverpool Plains. Far below us white dots in a paddock are bales of cotton. To the east is the Moonbi Range, the one that dwarfs Tamworth. And speaking of dwarfing, back at camp an ex-military vehicle has parked beside us and towers over us. Converted to a motor home in much the same way as Jacquie Lambert’s at Worldwidewalkies.blog. And speaking of walkies, this RV park is operated by the local kennel club and a dog show is imminent. At happy hour we admire the primped and preened pooches as they prance past.

Our kitchen window view, it’s a lot bigger than ours.
Just walking the dog

Woody hitches up the van and replaces the cable ties with Velcro. This is a much better way to tie up the tow chains as it can be re used.

The tow hitch now all hitched with a strap of velcro

We hear from Mrs. Have a Chat and she has arrived safely at Dubbo. While Elle and her new rig ‘Betty’ have arrived in Jerilderie. No doubt they’ll pass each other tomorrow.

Dinner is roasted lamb chops with green beans and potatoes.

Accom: $25.00
