Yackety Yack, Day 18 – Welcome Betty!

Day 18 Friday 26/5/2023 Narrabri, windy cool 7 – 16

It was a windy night and we were up at 3:00am checking the awning. Dark clouds skirt us heading east.

Narrabri Showgrounds, it is not as busy as last year.

It’s nice to know that we have a few days to take things easy and we’re all excited that Elle will arrive today. Woody walks into town, VeeWee and I drive in later to pick him up and do some shopping.

Helloo Betty

Elle arrives just after 2:00pm and the new rig looks brand new. What a great purchase it has been. It’s too windy to put the awning out but it’s not too early to toast “Betty” with a sparkling Shiraz. We toss a chicken roast called “Aldi” in our oven with some pumpkin. VeeWee cooks the spuds and Elle cooks corn and peas. A quick zap in the microwave and the instant gravy is done for a communal roast dinner. We probably drink too much but it is good to be on the road together again. We receive a text from Toothless in Broome, to say that he’s broken another tooth, this time it’s a brand new $4000 implant that was meant to last a lifetime. Obviously, the tooth’s lifetime not Toothless’ lifetime. After two broken teeth, I’m starting to have doubts about his Missus’ cooking.

Accom: $17.85

  1. That is a great looking motorhome. So good to read that Elle has had the courage to embrace independent travel.
