Yackety Yack, Day 30 – Queensland

Day 30 Wednesday 7/6/2023 Murwillumbah, sunny 13 – 22

A bright sunny and warm morning and the local farmers market ‘Murbah’ has set up at the far end of the Showgrounds. We return with bananas, passionfruit, capsicum relish, and felafels. Wandering the stalls is enjoyable, people are breakfasting on the lawns and the crowd is colourful, from trendy to hippie. The produce is farm fresh and the backdrop is acres of green sugar cane and the deep blue of the Mt Warning range.

VeeWee drives up to Southport to deliver her brother’s horse racing trophies that have been filling her motor home for weeks. We drop Elle off at her friend’s high rise in Paradise Waters and we meet Woody’s brother, Woody the Elder, and our sister-in-law, the Very Good Golfer for lunch at Chong & Co Thai at Pacific Fair. I’m quite sure this city gets taller every time we visit. I pick up a couple of pairs of jeans while I have the chance and, on our way back, Elle buys new summer weight bedding for the motor home. While Woody makes a difficult decision. Our Techni Ice ice box that has served us so well for 8 years is a bit too large for the back of the Touareg, so he buys a Brass Monkey 12/240 volt fridge freezer.

Surfers Paradise and a sight we haven’t seen for a while, high rise.

We all arrive back at camp in time for a chilly outdoor happy hour and recap of our busy day in the city. Hey, we finally made it to Queensland!

Tonight’s dinner is the felafels we bought at the market and there’s a beautiful moonrise over the town.

Accom: $30.00
