Day 8 Friday 1/12/2023 (Summer!) Heathcote, cloudy 13 – 23
It rained during the night, but the morning is lovely. The mats under our awning are a muddy mess, they’ll need quite a bit of TLC when we get home. We use light rubber mats that grass can grow through but after about 2 years, they begin to shred like Grandma’s old lace. These ones are almost at that point.
Most vans pack up and leave prompting many goodbyes and ‘see you next time’s’. After lunch, we drive up to Rochester to check out the caravan park for future reference. VeeWee was here recently and was really impressed. The whole town was under water earlier this year and they are asking tourists to return and spend a few dollars to boost things along. The caravan park has been refurbished and is in pristine condition with new buildings and thick grassy lawns.

A visit to Rochester isn’t complete without seeing the silo art. Toothless drops me off so I can get a few photos. When they disappear off down the road, I think ‘Here we go again, the old let’s drive off on her trick’. Photos done I wait for their return and off we go. Halfway to the next town, someone mentions the platypus … “What platypus?” Sure enough, I’ve missed the platypus on the back of the silo. Cheeky buggers, they’ll keep!

There are so many painted silos now, that when we see one unpainted we wonder why.

I kick myself when I find out I’ve missed a detail like the back of a silo. These days I try to remember to look at places from all angles!

I love Rochester. Pity about the flood 2 years ago

Let’s hope they don’t cop it again with the current stormy weather.
