Day 14 Thursday 16/5/2024 Horsham, warm 21
Making the most of the weather we both spend the day walking and I get a few sketches done down by the river. While we’re puddling about the Cardiology folk ring. Lucky we’re heading home tomorrow because it looks like they’ve got a porcine donor ready for Woody’s ticker valve.
Dinner? More soup and a few prawns.

Day 15 Friday 17/5/2024 Horsham to Melbourne, cold 4 – 15 hello winter!
We’re up and away at 7:15am as we want to slip through the ‘optimum traffic window’. The sun rises over the sheep and wheat stubble casting highlights on the crags of the Grampians (Gariwerd) Range. Having missed breakfast and now hanging for food we have a brief stop at Ararat to grab an egg and bacon roll. We really should spend some time in this town, instead of just stocking up before going elsewhere.
Back on the road the eastern skies blacken as we near the city. Eventually, utterly sick of traffic and trucks we peel off the West Gate Bridge and take Beach Road around the bay. When in doubt, just take the scenic route! As we pull into our street the rain starts.
We can be thankful for 2 weeks of warmth and no wind.
Before I finish this post I must mention the country’s tattiest Big Thing. You see it’s quite a thing in Australia to make large things that become tourist attractions. Think bulls on hillsides in Spain, but with a difference. The Big Mango in Bowen, The Big Banana in Coffs Harbour, The Big Prawn, there are two of those and most attractive they both are. Then, at Dadswells Bridge we have The Giant Koala and what can I say, other than he always has me in stitches.

Footnote: Woody has had his operation, and no he didn’t get any pork chops. Just a pig’s heart valve and a pacemaker and boy, is he itching for hitching.

I wondered what a Porcine donor was that you mentioned at the beginning of your post. But all came clear at the end. So pleased Woody is now raring to go. I chuckled at that koala too. Yes so many “big things” to watch for when travelling

You’ve got me wondering now…there isn’t a big thing on the Gold Coast. Perhaps a giant Meter Maid?

Hmmm, maybe a big surfboard?

When the doctor listens to Woody’s heart now, will he hear ‘oink, oink’ instead of the usual sound?

He’s going to love that comment 😂

Giant koalas? Now that IS scary.

I doubt we’d need to worry, they’d only sleep all day.

The great news is bigger than any koala. Does Woody now like to have his belly tickled?

The Koala is certainly showing his age with those long hairs growing out of his ears.

I agree. He always has me in stitches too, that koala is bloody ugly! But still, somehow it’s a bit iconic. Glad to hear all will be ticking well with Woody

So pleased that Woody has a new lease on life… heart issues are always a worry.

Very much so. I guess we’re at the age where there are more thrills and spills than Luna Park.
