Day 13 Thursday 26/6/2025 Murbah, sunny 8 – 17 (Geez that’s not warm)
This morning I manage to grab a sleep-in while Woody curses his tablet for not downloading the newspaper. The coffee grinder is on the blink, and we haven’t had TV reception for 3 nights. Woody turns the aerial in the opposite direction and Voila!
We walk into town to shop and have a nose around. It’s an art deco town, having been rebuilt after a massive fire. The buildings are quirky and as colourful as the population.

Wandering about the showgrounds I spot a white-headed pigeon.

The sky glows red tonight as they are burning the cane not far from us, always an awesome sight.

Accom: $35.00

Any burning is scary at the moment. That is an excellent, dramatic, photo

Thanks Derrick, it seems as though European weather is becoming more like ours.

wow I didn’t think they burned the sugar cane anymore? I remember seeing it and the smell of burning sugar cane vividly when I travelled to Queensland as a child, but we didn’t see any burning on our trip a couple of years ago.

There are some areas that still burn. If you want an unforgettable experience you can farm stay at Burdekin Cane Farm and they’ll take you out to a burn.
