Day 30 Sunday 13/7/2025 Wooli to Darlington Beach, sunny
It’s another bright sunny morning. The coffee grinder problem is finally solved, no more religiously packing it up and removing the grinder. Now it lives on the floor of the shower, the bean hopper / grinder firmly in place. Heaven help us, if we hit a bad bump.
Less than an hour later, we’re checking in to the NRMA Darlington Beach Resort near Woolgoolga. We had forgotten how pretty this park is, from the lily lagoon at the front entrance to the hibiscus flowers. From the large sites to the mobs of kangaroos snoozing on the lawns.

After lunch we drive into nearby Woolgoolga which is known as Woopi to its large Sikh population. The shopping area of Woopi overlooks playgrounds and parklands and a wide crescent of surf beach. It’s Woody’s birthday tomorrow and as we have always wanted to have an Indian meal here this will be a good opportunity, but it will have to be tonight as tomorrow is Monday and as we know most places are closed on Monday night. We have a long walk through the older part of town that used to be on the old highway and as we pass the park, we notice a mob of kangaroos lounging on the lawn oblivious to the kids playing. On our stroll we pass an historic house which, according to the plaque (you’ve gotta love those plaques) was the old police residence and now it is named Marsh House after police officer Cecil Marsh (1900 – 1987) who loved this town so much that he refused promotions just to stay here. Cecil also preferred to do his rounds on horseback.
Returning to camp we do a little exploration, checking out the improvements that have been made since we were last here in 2020.
We return to Woolgoolga in the evening for dinner at Woopi Tandoori Nights. Chicken Tikka, Samosas, and a Beef Vindaloo. Yum!
Accom: $47.00, Towing Kms: 71Kms

A Sikh community and Tandoori Nights. Who would have thought it? I’d have really liked it

That would be the best place for an Indian meal.
