A Cool Coast – A Cold Shower

Day 38 Monday 21/7/2025 Nambucca Heads, wet & chilly 13 – 19

It rained for most of the night and although the sun is now shining the dark grey sky threatens. Anxious to walk we both head off regardless of the weather. Being low tide, I scoot over to Shelly Beach to see what flotsam Neptune has thrown up, but I’m out of luck. There are already surreptitious shellers in action combing the beach furtively, peeled eyes shaded by broad hats. This must be the most frustrating hobby addiction. Still, it’s a pleasant walk as bottle green waves break, there’s even a woman in swimming, but of course there is, it’s that warm northern current. Returning emptyhanded down the trail I hear the distinctive cry of yellow tailed black cockatoos overhead. By lunchtime we’re getting those pesky passing showers again.

As The Bridesmaid is due to arrive on the bus on Wednesday night, we head off on a mission to find the Greyhound bus stop. It seems that nobody knows except Google, oh this is going to be fun.

I take a brisk walk out on the V Wall where a chap is clambering over rocks fishing in the pounding waves. He claims to have done well and caught some bream.

Our aerial is playing up again and the TV is unwatchable. Dinner is leftovers and showers are still passing…gee, that sounds cheery.

Accom: $46.00

*The rock is for Jack over at ‘Pommepal’. The Wellington Rock area has veins of quartz running through rock of blue and purple colours. The beauty of it always fascinates me.
