An amble through Victoria’s Goldfields region.
Day 10 Friday 17/10/2025 Maldon to Newstead, sunny 9 – 20
Our four ‘cabin crew’ are off early, heading for home. Woody the Elder scoots back to Melbourne to visit his sons.
We leave the ghost park and take the short drive to the freedom camp at Newstead Racecourse. We set up (ie light the gas fridge) and sit around in the sun chatting for the day. As always, this camp is fairly busy but because of its size is also very quiet. Gosh this has been such a relaxing trip and now there’s nothing to do but count the sheep.

For happy hour we heat some curry puffs (so much for resting my colon) in the oven and then roast some chicken schnitzels on a bed of vegetables.
Accom: $10.00, Toilets, showers, water available. Towing Kms: 15Kms

And here was I thinking this would be about punctuation. I trust the rest was good

With the gas fridge, curry puffs, and colon, it might be a good idea to tie down the awning!
