Yarram, Vic
Day 5 Wednesday 26/11/2025 Yarram, rain, wind gusting to 60kmh, 11 – 19
Sharing cars, we all take the short drive up to the beautiful fern gully that is the Tarra Valley. Even the drive up here is a treat, with more paddocks of cows giving way to attractive homes set against a backdrop of tall timber.
The Tarra Valley Retreat Park where we were unable to get a booking has only two motorhomes on site. This would have been a perfect park for our mob for a few days as they have cabins as well. The office is closed, and bookings are handled by the owners in Queensland. Is there something fishy going on here too? Despite the misty rain, this place is utterly beautiful. We are so glad that we have camped here before in the most perfect conditions.

Returning to camp to change into warmer clothes, it’s lunchtime and time to gallop down to the Victoria Hotel in Alberton, just a few kilometres away for a bite to eat. Double or Nuthin’ and Shirley Temple are driving this time in their new TLC Toyota Land Cruiser. While we eat lunch we watch the passing rain showers outside. Is it really summer next week?

We continue on to Port Albert and act as tour guides as our drivers haven’t been there before. Mind you there are only a couple of streets, it is a tiny town.
Happy Hour is noisy again, of course.
Accom: $37.50

This ghost camping seems to be happening in all the National Parks. Such a problem.
