Day 19 Friday 26/6/2026 Somerset Dam, 11 – 18 drizzly

I sleep in ridiculously late and fall out of bed at 9:40. But it doesn’t matter, we’re not moving today. With light mist falling we have one of those priceless camping mornings just sitting around under the awning yacking and drinking coffee, while rain drips off the awning edge. The sort of thing that my late aunt would have called “Just talking’ shit”.

Jenny the caretaker shows us the unpowered site that we’ll move to tomorrow, one that’s big enough for several families on Xmas holiday.

We have a restful afternoon reading and sketching and the weather clears. Double or Nuthin’ lights another fire. We cook burgers on our hot plate with cheese, tomato and lettuce and ‘just talk shit’.
