When a long cold beer is the only thing to quench a thirst it pays to know the correct terminology. Beer glass sizes in each state can be awfully confusing. Here is a list of the most common names and sizes.

For a more detailed description of where one can order a ‘small beer’ a ‘foursie’ when to order a ’shetland’ or a ‘pony’ or for that matter a ’butcher’ a ‘bobbie’ a ‘six’ or a ‘seven’ go to:

“A hard earned thirst needs a big cold beer and the best cold beer is Vic, Victoria Bitter.” Carlton and United Breweries advertising campaign from the 1960’s.
The beer in the picture? Great Northern also known as ‘The Beer From Up Here’.

Got caught with Middys and Schooners when we were touring around but would have loved to order a Butcher if we’d visited Adelaide. Just have to go back I guess!
